Our pub, nestled in the Essex countryside, has proudly stood since the 16th century, showcasing much of its original charm—from rustic beams to the warm, timeworn brickwork. As a Grade II listed building, The Layer Fox captures centuries of English pub tradition, while inviting guests to relax in thoughtfully updated spaces.
Join us for a pint by the log-burning fireplace, or enjoy a meal in the cosy dining area with high ceilings and original oak flooring. The summer months make our garden and decked terrace a favourite spot for al fresco dining, while our lively bar area ensures a friendly welcome year-round, complete with locally crafted ales and fresh seasonal dishes.
